4S.B. Kartal Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi 2. Göz Kliniği Şefi, İstanbul, Prof. Dr. Purpose: To investigate the effectiveness and safety of glaucoma drainage deviges in IOP control for the treatment of post penetrating keratoplasty glaucoma
Materials and Methods: Thirty four patients with post penetrating keratoplasty glaucoma who underwent drainage deviges for the treatment of post penetrating keratoplasty glaucoma were retrospectively evaluated. As implant, molteno tube was used in 24 patients and AGV was used in 10 patients. During implantation procedure, the grafts were clear in 22 patients and remaining 12 grafts were opaque.
Results: The mean follow-up time was 23.2 months. The cumulative success rate in IOP control was 85.2% at 1. year, 65.3% at 3. year and the cumulative graft survival rate was 77.2% at 1. year and 74.1% at 2. year and 59% at 3. year, respectively. Graft failure was observed in 9 (40.9%) patients postoperatively.
Conclusion: Glaucoma drainage devices were successful in IOP control for the treatment of glaucoma. However, graft failure is important risk factor for these patients.
