A Rare Ocular Finding Due to Hereditary Cutaneous Porphyria: Lamellar Cataract

4Prof. Dr., Ulucanlar Göz E.A.H., Göz Hastalıkları, Ankara, Türkiye Porphyrias are a rare group of metabolic disorders that are characterized by the accumulation of photosensitive, toxic intermediates in various organs including the skin, eye and neural tissue due to a defect in hemoglobin production. Ocular complications in porphyrias are extremely rare and caused by retention of porpyrin metabolites in ocular tissues. Although mostly encountered ocular complications of porphyria are related to ocular surface; acute scleritis and scleral necrosis, corneal and conjunctival scarring, ectropion, hypertricosis and even retinal detachment can also be seen. Hereby, we present a case with lamellar cataract due to hereditary cutaneus porphyria and discuss its ocular fi ndings.. Keywords : Hereditary coproporphyria, lameller cataract, porphyria
