An Update on Trabeculectomy

Prof. Dr., Gözakademi Göz Kliniği, Bodrum, Muğla, Türkiye DOI : 10.37844/glau.cat.2023.18.1 Current treatments of glaucoma are directed toward lowering the intraocular pressure (IOP), the major modifiable risk factor associated with the disease. Surgical treatment is a key element in the glaucoma treatment algorythm. Trabeculectomy is one of the oldest glaucoma surgeries. Glaucoma surgical techniques have been evolved in the last twenty years and despite recent advances in glaucoma surgical techniques, trabeculectomy is often regarded as the gold standard of surgical care.
