Surgical Treatment of Presbyopia and Multifocal Intraocular Lenses: Transitioning from Cataract to Refractive Intraocular Lens Surgery

Dr. Currently, within numerous techniques for correction of presbyopia, particulary with the contribution of multifocal and accommodating intraocular lenses, cataract surgery is becoming refractive surgery. In this article, various presbyopia correcting techniques, especially multifocal lenses are put forward with its pros and cons, patient selection criteria, points to pay attention before and during surgery, concepts which come out with these procedures like “mix and match” and “neural adaptation” are reviewed.
